1. How to reach Andaman from Bangalore

Port Blair, now officially called Sri Vijaya Puram, has direct flights from Bengaluru, which take about 2½ hours. Inter-island travel is by ferry: government ships, or private cruises such as Makruzz and Green Ocean, to Havelock (Swaraj Dweep) and Neil Island (Shaheed Dweep). Indian tourists do not need a permit for the main tourist islands; carry a government photo ID.

  1. Arrive Port Blair: Corbyn's Cove beach and the Light & Sound Show at the Cellular Jail.
  2. Port Blair – Havelock: ferry to Havelock (about 2½ hrs) and sunset at Radhanagar Beach, often rated among Asia's best beaches.
  3. Havelock – Port Blair: boat trip to Elephant Beach for snorkelling and water sports, then the ferry back.
  4. Baratang Island: limestone caves and mangrove creeks (or Neil Island instead).
